This is my first day rocking my new dumbphone, an LG Cosmos 2 Feature-Phone with QWERTY Keyboard.
I'm normally the proud, very proud, very, very proud owner of an iPhone 5S. Gold. Yep... I had to have the GOLD one so that anyone who saw my phone would know it was the 5S and not the 5. So silly, I know. But the gold was SOOO pretty! In fact, it was so pretty that I chose not to protect it. No case for me. I'm living on the edge! Going Commando! Naked! Rocking my bling!
And then I dropped my phone, face down, concrete. Nothing happened. Then a few days later, I dropped it again, on my driveway. My sturdy iPhone had made me proud and withstood my abuse. All the hype and money was worth it! The Kool-Aid was intoxicating! And then I dropped it again.... and MANY more times. And finally my pretty, gold iPhone 5S was a mess, cracked screen, crazy glitches. But then it kinda grew on me. Chicks dig phones with scars I guess, or at least this geek chick does. So I just decided to make my 5S last as long as possible; it really did make for great conversation starters ("What the hell did you do to your poor phone?!"). Then I dropped it once more. Face down. This last mishap gave me a screen that sported vertical white lines and no longer responded to my touch, but being the ladygeek that I am, I got along just fine for a day with just Siri. And then someone offered to fix it.
Anyway, I'm now the owner of an LG Cosmos 2 Feature-Phone as I await the arrival of my iPhone 6. What can I really do with this thing? I'd actually been a dumbphone fan for some time, having spoken at several conferences about unleashing the power of the dumbphone in the classroom. Now it's time to test my skills and my geekdom using a dumbphone. What can I really do with this thing? My iPhone 6 is supposed to be here BEFORE the 21st. Follow along on this short journey as I blog about the awesome things you can do with a dumbphone. Yesterday I was able to post text and photo to my Facebook! Learn how to do that and more! And maybe by the time you're done, you'll be proud of your dumbphone, too.
